
Bright Idea Coaching is owned by Julie Casey, who serves as the primary coach and tutor.
Julie lives in far southwest Austin near Dripping Springs, Texas and works at the University of Texas at Austin designing new courses and academic programs with the Office of Academic Affairs. She was previously a writing instructor in UT’s Liberal Arts Honors program and led a merit-based scholarship program for honors students.
With over 22 years of experience teaching first-year college students, Julie specializes in the transition from high school to college, knowing what kind of support is needed for this stage of a young adult’s life. She is particularly experienced working with honors students and neurodivergent learners.
Julie has a B.A. in Plan II Honors Program from the University of Texas at Austin, with concentrations in English and History. She also earned her M.A. in Social Sciences & Policy Studies from the University of Chicago, with a specialization in how education reform policies impact teachers and students. She taught at DePaul University in Chicago for 6 years before moving back to Austin. She’s spent years as a freelance writer and was a regular contributor to the Austin-American Statesman before teaching at UT Austin.
